House. C18, extended in C19. Timber-framed, weatherboarded, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 3 bays facing SW with central stack, forming a lobby entrance. C19 single-storey lean-to extensions to right and to rear, and C19 single-storey wing to rear right of red brick in stretcher bond, with similar tiles, formerly a bakery, converted in C20 to domestic ancillary. 2 storeys. Ground floor, 2 late C19 sashes of 4 lights, and to right, C19 shop window converted in C20. First floor, two C19 casements. Central early C19 door of 6 boarded flush panels, with flat canopy on profiled brackets. Halved plain door to former shop extension at right. Moulded wooden eaves cornice at front and both sides. Roof hipped. INTERIOR: jointed and pegged frame with primary straight bracing, the main timbers of pine, with some hardwood. Unjowled posts. Each ground-floor room has a chamfered transverse beam of pine with lamb's tongue stops, joists plastered to the soffits. The right ground-floor room has a plain wood-burning hearth, the left room has a smaller plain hearth with curved interior, both repointed in C20. The left room has in front of the hearth a recessed cupboard with 2 profiled shelves and a fretted head, the lower boarded panelled door in situ, the upper panelled door reported to be loose on the premises. The front door has original HL hinges. Original moulded 3-plank door at foot of stair behind stack, and at the top, serpentine flat balusters and moulded pine rail. Boarded hardwood weatherboarding is enclosed at the right site by the shop extension, complete. The right upper room has an original 3-plank door and moulded wooden handle, a cupboard in front of the stack with original door and HL hinges, and an early to mid-C19 cast-iron grate.
