Description

106 and 108 High Street is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates from the early 19th century and has been altered and extended in the 20th century. The building is timber-framed, plastered, and has a slate roof. The main part of the structure faces southeast and features a rear stack near the right end, with a short rear wing to the left that has an internal stack at the end. It is two storeys high.

There is a 20th-century single-storey lean-to extension at the back of the left part of the main range. A 19th-century single-storey extension extends beyond the rear wing, covered with machine-made red clay tiles, and connects to a previously separate two-storey building that has a handmade red clay tile roof. A 20th-century two-storey extension beyond this is weatherboarded and has a felt roof.

On the ground floor, there are three sash windows with 8+8 lights, while the first floor has four sash windows with 8+8 square lights. The building features 20th-century glazed double doors set within a recessed imitation doorcase, which has panelled pilasters and Adam-style ornamentation on the frieze. The roof is low-pitched, and both chimney shafts are rendered. The eaves cornice has mutules. The left side of the building is weatherboarded and includes a vehicle entrance for No. 110, which is not listed. The left elevation of the rear wing has one early 19th-century sash window with 10+10 lights on the first floor, and the extension beyond features one 19th-century horizontal sash window with 9+9 lights and one 19th-century casement window. This building is included for its group value.
