Description
Hunters Lodge is a lodge cottage dating from the early 19th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of plastered brick and has a slate roof. The building has an octagonal plan, with the entrance located on the east side and a central chimney stack. There is a small lean-to extension added in the 20th century on the southwest side, which encloses a rear door.
The lodge is one storey high with attics, and each of its five sides features a 20th-century casement window with diamond leading and a plain fanlight, all set in original openings with semicircular arched heads. On the west side, facing The Avenue, one of the original openings has been widened to accommodate 20th-century French windows, while still retaining the arched head and fanlight.
A 20th-century glazed gabled porch is located at the front, featuring a half-glazed door and another door inside, along with a plain fanlight in an original arched opening and large plain side-lights. Each original opening is recessed within a semicircular arch. The roof is fully hipped and includes two 20th-century skylights. The octagonal chimney shaft has a moulded base and cap, and the interior has been reported to be fully modernized.
