Description
Ormonde Lodge is a house located on Kelvedon High Street, dating from the 18th century and extended in the 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with some areas plastered, and it has a roof made of handmade red plain tiles. The house is set back from the road and features a single-span range facing southeast, with three external stacks at the rear.
At the back right, there is a two-storey lean-to extension from the 19th century, which has a slate roof and encloses two stacks. The house is two storeys high and has a three-window range of sash windows with 12 lights. The central door has six fielded panels and is framed by a Mannerist plaster doorcase that includes rusticated jambs, a projecting false keystone, and an open pediment. The roof is hipped, and there is a plain band at the first-floor level that continues around the left side of the building. The left return and rear elevation are plastered, and on the left return, there is a 19th-century French window with marginal lights. To the right, Ormonde Lodge abuts the rear ancillary range of No. 105, known as Ormonde House, and there is an internal connection to the first floor of that building.
