Description

The George Inn is a late 18th-century building, originally a range of attached cottages, which has been altered in the 20th century and is now a public house. The building is timber-framed and has a roughcast rendered exterior with some weatherboarding, covered by a roof of handmade red plain tiles. The main range faces southeast, with axial stacks positioned to the left of the middle and at the right end, and a rear wing extends to the left. Rear extensions have also been added. The ground floor has three pairs of early 20th-century sash windows, each with two lights. The first floor features three 19th or 20th-century sash windows, each with twelve lights. There are two half-glazed doors, and a full-length, coved fascia displays the name "The George." The roof is hipped at the left end. The lower storey of the left return is weatherboarded, while the upper storey is plastered.
