Description
This barn, located 60 meters northwest of Feering Place, dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is timber-framed and stands on a brick plinth, with weatherboarding and a corrugated metal roof. The barn features five bays and has a central gabled mid-strey.
On the southeast elevation, there are high double doors at the mid-strey and a small pedestrian door to the side. The weatherboarding on the right side has been partially removed to provide access to interior feeding troughs. The northwest elevation includes a small doorway opposite the mid-strey.
Inside, the barn has four trusses with roughly chamfered tie beams that do not have mortises for braces, and knees at the junction with the unjowled posts. The collars are trenched onto a single row of purlins, and the rafters meet at the ridge piece. The top plates are connected with simple scarf joints.
The barn has group value with Feering Place and another barn located 50 meters north/northwest of Feering Place.
