Description
Walberswick House is a house dating from the 18th to early 19th century. It features painted brick in Flemish bond, with some parts being timber framed and plastered, and is roofed with handmade red plain tiles. The house has a symmetrical lobby-entrance plan facing northeast, with a timber framed service wing at the rear left that includes an internal end stack. There is also a single-storey lean-to extension at the rear right.
The building stands two storeys tall, with a cellar and attics. It has a three-window range of 20th-century sashes set in original openings, which have flat arches made of gauged brick. The central entrance features a six-panel door, with the top two panels glazed, situated within a doorcase that has panelled jambs and a dentilled open pediment supported by scrolled brackets. A band runs around the first floor and both returns of the house. There is a moulded eaves cornice with bracketed corbels, and the gables are timber framed and plastered. Inside, there are boxed axial beams on both storeys, and 20th-century fire surrounds in the original hearths. The cellar has an original plain ledged door. The rear wing includes a chamfered axial beam, with no visible stops, and the joists are ceiled to the soffits.
