Description

Princes Cottage is a house that was formerly a public house, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of flint rubble with gault brick quoins and features a slated roof with brick gable end stacks. The building has two storeys and an outshut, with three 'bays' that include a central entrance, which has been recently blocked by the insertion of a window but still retains the original opening. There are two large horizontal sliding sash windows on the ground floor and three on the first floor, all set within segmental brick arches. A wrought iron inn sign is located at the right-hand corner. The property was known as The Princess (later Prince) of Wales public house, which opened by 1896 and closed around 1963. It is included for its group value.
