Description
The White House is a house dating from the late 15th century or early 16th century, with later alterations and additions from the late 16th century or early 17th century and the 19th century. It features a timber-framed and plastered structure with a plain tiled roof and a tall local brick ridge stack. The main range is one storey and has an attic, originally designed as an open hall. To the right, there is a two-storeyed jettied cross wing, and to the left, a gabled extension that is set at right angles, with the main entrance facing north. The entrance includes a boarded door, and the gabled facade of the extension has two hung sash windows. The ground floor has four windows of various sizes with glazing bars, and there is one dormer window with horizontal sliding sashes, along with one first floor casement window in the cross wing. The jetty joists are exposed and do not have brackets.
