Description
Nos. 2 and 4 on School Lane is a house dating from around 1700 that has been significantly altered and expanded in the 19th century. It now functions as a house and shop. The building is timber framed and covered in clunch, which is encased in 19th-century brick and painted. It features a steeply pitched tiled roof with a 19th-century ridge stack. The structure has two storeys and a symmetrical facade with two, two-storey canted bays on either side of the doorway. Above the shop front, which dates from the 20th century, are two hung sash windows. At the rear of the shop, there is a 19th-century addition made of pebbles and flint, with brick quoins, also two storeys high. Inside the shop, the ceiling beams are exposed and have stop-chamfered detailing.
