Description
The statue of William of Orange, depicted as a Roman Emperor, dates from the 18th century and is made of limestone. It is life-sized and stands on a plinth that features inscriptions on the southeast and west sides, including a quotation from David Hume's "History of Great Britain." The statue is said to have been erected by William Graves of Garthside, Lancashire, who died in 1788.
