Description
Manor Cottage is a cottage that was formerly two dwellings, dating from the mid-17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a combed wheat thatched roof. The building features two gault brick ridge stacks and is one storey with an attic, originally designed as a single storey with a four-unit plan and an outshut on the south gable. The cottage has four ground floor and three dormer casement windows, which were added in the 20th century. There is a 20th-century door located to the right of centre in a cross passage position behind the main stack.
Inside, the cottage retains its exposed timber frame, including some reused timbers and straight braces. The exposed floor frame showcases stop-chamfered ceiling beams on clamps. The main open hearth features a mantel beam and two niches with shaped heads in the south room, while the west room has a hearth that was inserted around 1700, along with a sealed door in the lobby entry position.
