Description
Jesters is a cottage that dates from before 1811 and has a mid-20th century rear wing. It features a timber frame that is rendered, with a brick gable end and a long straw thatch roof. The roof has a stack that was partially rebuilt at the junction of the front range and the rear wing. The cottage is one storey high with an attic and includes two dormers, one of which is blocked. There are two hung sash windows with small panes on either side of the doorway leading to the central room. Inside, the wall framing is concealed, and there are slender joists along with an inglenook hearth lintel. The history of the cottage can be traced through the Cotton Estate Map from 1811, which is held in the Cambridge University Library's Cambridgeshire Collection.
