Description

The cottages at 57 (Argo) and 59 Heydon Road, Chishill, are late 17th or 18th century timber-framed buildings, partly plastered and with a prominent central red brick ridge stack and a half-hipped thatched roof. They are a pair of handed cottages, one storey high with an attic. Each has two boarded doors, each with a small hood supported on shaped brackets, and two ground floor windows, as well as two dormer windows with glazing bars. The interior of No. 57 has a sealed hearth, while No. 59 includes a baking oven. Both cottages retain exposed timber framing and floor frames.
