Description
No. 15 Owl End is an early 17th century L-plan farmhouse located in Great Stukeley. The main range consists of two bays with a lobby entry and a kitchen range to the west, which originally had one bay but was later extended by two bays in the 17th century. The building features a timber frame that is plaster rendered, topped with old tile roofs at two different levels. Each range has a ridge stack, although the stack on the kitchen range has been rebuilt. The main range has two storeys and attics, with two later windows and a later doorway in the original opening opposite the stack. The kitchen range includes one small horizontal sliding sash window at the first floor and two windows along with a door at the ground floor. Inside, the farmhouse showcases stopped and chamfered main beams and two inglenook hearths. The wall framing displays straight bracing and middle rails. The extension to the kitchen range is open to the roof and contains a brewhouse and baking oven. The roof is constructed with clasped side purlins.
