Description
Camelot is a country house built around 1830, currently serving as a club and flats. It was likely constructed for James Torkington Esq. The building is made of gault brick and rendered, featuring a hipped slate roof. It has two storeys with the main elevation consisting of three bays; the two outer bays are blind, while the central bay has a parapet and is framed by pilasters, containing three recessed hung sashes with glazing bars. A large Roman Doric portico is present, which is segmental in plan, leading to a central double doorway and two similar hung sashes. The garden front has nine bays, with the three central bays slightly projecting. It has two storeys, except for the central bays which include an attic storey and a segmental bay with a flat roof at ground level. At the east end, there is a loggia with three bays supported by Roman Doric columns made of Ketton stone. Historical sale particulars from 1852 are available at the Huntingdon Record Office.
