Description

Hilton House is an early to mid-18th century house located on Graveley Road in Hilton. It is constructed of red brick with rendered facades, and has an irregular H-shaped plan. The roof is tiled, with hipped sections over the cross-wings and a parapet to the front. A parapet gable end is present at the rear of the right-hand cross-wing. The house has internal stacks, which are rendered.

The central block features a five-window range of hung sashes with slender glazing bars. A band runs above the first floor and between the first and ground floors. Early 19th century stone steps with iron balusters and railings lead to the central doorway, which has a doorcase of moulded pilasters, a plain entablature, and a semi-circular headed arch featuring a key block. The double doors are four-panelled and have a semi-circular headed fanlight with glazing bars. A Venetian window, with a sealed central light, is located in the rear wall of the right-hand cross-wing.

The interior includes a 19th-century staircase with original 18th-century balusters on the upper flight.
