Description

Earl's Farmhouse and the attached barn to the northeast are a farmhouse and barn dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with early 19th-century additions and alterations. The buildings are constructed of local red brick, featuring thatched and Collyweston slated roofs, along with a Welsh slated roof on the barn that has parapet gables. The structure is one storey with an attic and is arranged in an L-shape, comprising a main range that runs northeast to southwest, which includes three units of an earlier building. There is a rear service wing to the northwest and the barn is located to the northeast. The farmhouse has a ridge stack and an end stack on the right side. The entrance features a 19th-century panelled door with a rectangular fanlight, set within a sunk panelled pilastered doorcase topped by a cornice hood supported by shaped brackets. The windows include one sixteen-paned hung sash window on the right, two three-light casement windows on the right, two three-light casement windows on the left, and four eyebrow casement dormer windows. Earl's Farmhouse is one of three surviving buildings from the original village, which can be clearly seen in aerial photographs.
