Description

The Almonds is an early 19th-century house that was altered in the later 19th century. It is constructed of gault brick with red brick dressings. The roof is covered in plain tiles and features a mansard design, with late 19th-century shaped barge-boarding to the gable ends. Brick end stacks are present. The house is two storeys high, with attics, and incorporates two flat-roof dormers on either side of a central, gabled dormer with an ogee arched head and a hung sash window. Below, red brick cambered arches frame two hung sashes with margin lights, flanking a similar hung sash within a semi-circular healed arch. A central doorway is set back within a doorcase of Ionic pilasters, a plain entablature, and a dentilled cornice, and is surmounted by a rectangular fanlight. Original early 19th-century gates and piers are located to the front on the right and left. The gates are made of cast iron and decorated with a honeysuckle ornament.
