Description
No. 111 High Street is a mid-18th century building that stands three storeys tall with an attic. It is constructed of red brick and features a stone cornice. The building has five windows, with a notable Venetian window in the middle of the first floor, which, along with a similar window at the rear, illuminated the Assembly Room. The entire ground floor has a modern plate glass front. The centre bay is slightly set forward and topped with a pediment. There are six windows on the upper floor, all of which are sash windows with glazing bars. The building has a parapet and an old tiled roof that includes four flat-topped dormers, along with brick end stacks. Historically, this building was known as the Fountain Inn, a well-known posting house.
