Description

Kent House, dated 1789, is a two-storey house with attics. It is constructed from yellow local brick, featuring red brick quoins and window dressings, and has a red pantiled roof. The house has five gabled dormers and end stacks, along with a saw-tooth eaves cornice. The front is symmetrical, with six windows on both the first and ground floors, all fitted with modern casements. Above the central doorway, which has a modern four-panelled door, there is a central blind window. To the right, there is an original outshut. Inside, the house boasts two large inglenook hearths with pine mantle beams. It was built by the parish as a workhouse using bricks made from local clay from the Slade.
