Description
The Church of Emmanuel is a parish church built in 1872 in the early English style. It features red brick with black brick banding and some stone details, topped by a steeply pitched slate roof. The west wall has a circular window above two lancet windows, while the south side includes a gabled porch that is open-sided, constructed of timber on a brick plinth. The south wall also has lancet windows with circular windows above them. The chancel is apsed, with a hipped slate roof and additional lancet windows.
Inside, the church has a north arcade consisting of three bays with two-centred arches that have single roll moulding on short round marble columns with square capitals that are chamfered at the corners. The spandrels contain round openings filled with nail head ornament. The roof is a collar rafter type. The chancel arch is two-centred and made of two moulded orders, with the inner order resting on short attached columns supported by corbels. The interior retains its original communion rail, choir stalls, pews, and glazing.
