Description
The statue of Silenus holding the infant Bacchus is located at Emperor's Walk in Anglesey Abbey. This 19th-century piece is a copy of an ancient sculpture, attributed to Soboline. It is made of bronze and depicts Silenus, a figure from mythology, with the infant Bacchus, also known as the Borgese Faun. The statue is noted in "The Garden Sculpture at Anglesey Abbey" published in the Connoisseur in 1949 and is referenced in an unpublished survey report by J Kenworthy-Browne for the National Trust in 1980.
