Description

Tan House is a 17th-century farmhouse, originally of a lobby-entry plan with a contemporary service wing to the west. A late 19th or early 20th-century wing now obscures the original entrance on the south side, and a gabled extension has been added to the north, along with more modern additions. The building is timber-framed and rendered, with painted brick, and has plain tile roofs. It features two ridge stacks and a gable end stack on the south side. The main entrance is located at the rear of the property, within the 17th-century service wing. The east-facing garden facade, with three gables, contains two modern first-floor windows and four ground-floor windows. The interior retains good 18th-century details, including chimney pieces, and exposed 17th-century ceiling beams are visible in the original service rooms.
