Description
The Old House is a late 16th-century building with a 17th-century northeast wing, located on Church Lane in Trumpington. It was restored in 1924 when the southwest wing was added. The structure is made of red brick and features a tiled roof. It has two storeys with crow-stepped gables on the end walls, which are topped with chimney stacks, and twin crow-stepped gables on the projecting wing at the back. There is a band between the storeys and at the foot of the gables. The upper windows have projecting labels, and most of the windows retain their old oak frames and mullions. The later lower wing on the south side is a single storey with an attic, featuring two dormers, modern casement windows, and a mansard roof. Inside, there is an early 17th-century staircase and several 17th-century doors with pedimented doorways.
