Description

The University Press, also known as the Pitt Press, is a building located on Trumpington Street, constructed in 1831 by Edward Blore. It is designed in the Gothic style and features an ashlar-faced exterior with a central tower that rises above the flanking sections. The building has three storeys and includes a four-centred entrance archway with an oriel window above it. Inside, the hall boasts a vaulted ceiling with moulded ribs. Significant alterations were made between 1934 and 1937 by Murray Easton, which included changes to the wings, fenestration, and interior, as well as the removal of the drip-moulds. The building is topped with pinnacles and a pierced, embattled parapet, and has a slate mansard roof. The University Press holds group value with the surrounding buildings.
