Description
The Pfeiffer Building at Newnham College, constructed in 1892, is a four-storey gateway featuring modern wings. It is designed in the Dutch Baroque style and showcases three different architectural orders. The building has corner turrets with ogee heads, creating a canted bay that includes three sash windows on each level. A central elliptical arch is adorned with a wrought-iron screen designed by Champneys and made by Elsey in 1893. Above the arch, there are three round-headed windows on each floor. The building is topped with a pantiled roof. To the north, a long Neo-Georgian range connects the Pfeiffer Building with Sidgewick Hall.
