Description
High House is a 17th century house located on London Road in Purfleet. It is timber-framed and has plastered brick, topped with a red plain tile hipped roof. The building has two storeys and attics, featuring a five-window range of double hung vertical sliding sashes with glazing bars. On the ground floor, there are two three-light windows set in arched recesses, while the central window on the first floor is blocked. A band runs between the storeys, and there is a central door with a hood supported by shaped brackets, along with an ornamental fanlight above it. Stone steps lead up to the door, flanked by iron rails. The eaves are also adorned with a band, and there are two hipped dormers. The house has panelled end stacks and an extension on the left side of the front, which is set back and has one window range. Inside, the house features panelling and a 17th century staircase with twisted balusters.
