Description
The Orchard is an early 18th-century house located on the east side of The Village in Orton Longueville. It is constructed from painted coursed stone rubble and features flush quoins. The house has a thatched roof with gabled ends and is one storey high with an attic. At the eaves, there are four gabled dormers that contain large 2-light casement windows. On the ground floor, there is a 3-light window on the right side and a small fixed light window with glazing bars on the left. The central entrance features a glazed and panelled door, which is framed by a late 19th-century architrave and a shaped pedimental hood supported by brackets. The house has rebuilt brick stacks at both ends. There is a 18th-century extension to the south, made of painted brick with a Collyweston stone mansard roof, also one storey high with an attic, and it has one window and a dormer. Additionally, there is a brick wing at the rear that dates from the 19th or 20th century.
