  1. Cruciform church with crossing tower. Totternhoe stone. Battlemented with a frieze of animals below the battlements. Crossing arches of tower and south doorway are C13. Nave arcades are early C14, of 4 bays with high octagonal piers. Remainder C15. Three storey vestry has priest's accommodation at first floor level. Fine C15 roofs to chancel and nave has angels carrying emblems of the Crucifixion; and purlin and ridge intersections have moulded bosses. Fragmnents of painting in the south aisle - figures, medallions and tools. In south transept are a number of monuments to the Cheyne family including Thomas Peyro (deceased 1429) and his wife: and 3 chest tombs, Dame Anne Cheyne (deceased 1561): Lord Cheyne (deceased 1587); and Lady Cheyne (deceased 161), the latter 2 are of alabaster. North transept Wentworth Chapel - monuments include:- Maria Wentworth (deceased 1632) with a seated figure under a baldacchino; and Lady Henrietta Wentworth (deceased 1686) with 2 allegorical figures and a grotesque representation of Death.
