Description
This is a 17th-century building, remodelled in the early 19th century. It is located on Dunstable Street. The building originally had a moulded stone plinth. The upper two storeys are now constructed of modern red brick, with a plain parapet topped with simple coping. It has two windows, each with three lights and sash glazing. These windows were formerly beneath bold moulded cornices, which are now supported by ornate brackets carved with truss designs. The original front door is a six-panel door with four fielded panels, and it has a fanlight above. The door is set within a recessed, round-headed alcove, featuring similarly panelled reveals and a soffit. The door surround is a plain classical design with reeded pilasters and a moulded cornice. The front wall has been largely rebuilt. The building is illustrated in 'Recording Britain', volume 1, page 20.
