Description

The Bell Inn is a public house that dates back to the early 17th century, with later alterations made in the 19th century. It features a timber-framed structure, with some sections exposed and others filled with red brick, while some parts have been rebuilt in brick. Most of the brick areas are colourwashed, and the building is topped with clay tile roofs. The layout is T-shaped, with the main block having two storeys and attics, and a two-storey cross-wing.

On the eastern elevation, the main block has three casement windows on both the ground and first floors, while the left-hand gable has one window on each floor. Many of these windows feature 19th-century honeycomb leading. The main block also has moulded labels above the ground floor windows and the first-floor window in the gable. Additionally, there are two hipped dormers with two-light casements that include glazing bars. There is one 20th-century door each for the cross-wing and the main block. The cross-wing juts out at the first floor, and there is a substantial red brick multiple ridge stack at the junction with the cross-wing, along with one integral and one external stack on the right-hand gable end. The rear elevation has a smaller two-storeyed gable to the left of the cross-wing, and to the left of this, an outshut runs along the remaining length of the building.
