Description

The Grange is a house dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, which underwent significant alterations in the late 19th century. It features a substantial timber-framed structure with red brick infilling, many of which are vitrified. There are later additions made of red and yellow brick, with some parts colourwashed, and the roofs are covered with clay tiles. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with the northeast block being two storeys high and the southwest block having one storey and attics.

The northeast wing has a central projecting gable, which was likely originally jettied but has been built out with exposed corbels. This gable includes a seven-light window on the ground floor and a five-light window on the first floor, both flanked by single lights on the ground floor and two-light windows on the first floor. These windows are all apparently 20th-century casements with diamond leading. There is a door on the left-hand side and an external brick stack on the right-hand gable with paired diagonal shafts.

On the east elevation of the southwest block, the right-hand part is timber framed while the left-hand part is a 19th-century brick extension. The fenestration is similar to that of the northeast wing. The brick part features a jettied gable on the left-hand side, which has colourwashed render with applied timber framing, a mullion and transom window with honeycomb leading, and the initials "I.W.C.C."
