Description
The Church of All Saints is a Grade I listed building located on Stanbridge Road in Tilsworth. This church is constructed from clunch and ironstone, featuring a south arcade with three bays dating from the 13th century. The south aisle was rebuilt, and a west tower was added over the west bay of the nave in the 15th century, while the remainder of the church is from the 14th century. Inside the north aisle, there are three detached statuettes of knights, along with part of a fourth, which date back to the 13th century, although their origin is unknown. In the chancel, there is a tomb of Gariel Yowler, who died in 1582, featuring Corinthian columns on a panelled base that supports a canopy with a carved frieze. There is also a monument of a similar style dedicated to Sir Henry Chester, a Knight of the Bath to Charles II, who passed away in 1666. The church contains a Jacobean pulpit, and the font has a 17th-century bowl resting on a 13th-century stem.
