Description
Nos. 5 and 7 on Bedford Road are houses that were formerly a public house, dating from around 1700 and restored in the 20th century, as indicated by a plaque that reads "W.B. 1932." The buildings feature colourwashed roughcast over a timber frame and have an old clay tile roof. No. 7 is a conversion and addition to an outhouse block, also with colourwashed roughcast and a pantiled roof.
No. 5 is L-shaped with a left-hand gable, comprising one storey and attics, while No. 7 is a single storey. The overall eastern elevation shows that the ground floor has two three-light casements, three small sash windows, one single light window, and two 20th-century casements. The attic of No. 5 includes a two-light casement in the gable and three box dormers with casements on the main block. Additionally, No. 5 has two red brick chimneys, one at the junction with the cross-wing and another at the junction with the lower block.
