Description

Hill Farmhouse is a 17th-century house that has been extended and altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. The house is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with 19th-century sections built in brick and rendered with a pebbledash finish. It has a clay tile roof. Originally, the 17th-century section had two storeys and attics, but it is now two storeys throughout. A gable end faces the road, with a projecting western wing dating to the 19th century. An additional bay was added in the 18th century. The north elevation has four first-floor casement windows set into the roof slope. There are three three-light ground-floor casements with moulded timber cornices. A late Victorian gabled porch has rendered plinth walls, timber baluster posts, carved bargeboards, and a drop finial. The west elevation features a 17th-century first-floor leaded casement above a Victorian gabled doorhood supported on brackets. The south end was rebuilt around 1860, and a rear wing was added. This section has sash windows with marginal glazing bars.
