Description

This is a late 18th-century, three-story town house, originally comprising three bays, located on Horse Fair. The building is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern. A projecting cornice, embellished with modillion brackets, sits beneath a brick parapet. The roof is slate, with stone-coped gable ends and flanking chimney stacks. The upper floors feature revealed 19th-century sash windows, with the central windows narrower than those on either side; they are topped with painted, grooved stone flat arches and moulded keystones, and have painted stone sills. The ground floor has a central doorway flanked by late 19th-century shop fronts, which are pilastered with console brackets supporting the fascias. The original house entrance, located centrally, has a door consisting of five fielded panels and a semi-circular fanlight. The doorcase is well-proportioned, featuring an open bracketed pediment and a doorhead moulding that extends outward to connect with the caps of Doric columns.
