Description
The gazebo, located about 100 yards south of Overbury Court, is a structure that was reconstructed around 1900 from an earlier building dating back to the 18th century or earlier. It is made of limestone ashlar and features a pyramidal stone-tiled roof that is laid in diminishing courses, with swept eaves and a ball finial on top. The gazebo has a square plan and stands two storeys high.
All the windows consist of two lights with chamfered mullions, moulded architraves, and casements. The main southwest elevation includes a first-floor window and a door, both with moulded architraves. There is also a first-floor window on the northwest and northeast elevations. On the southeast elevation, there is a door with six raised and fielded panels and a moulded architrave at first-floor level, designed to accommodate the difference in ground levels on that side.
Originally, the gazebo was located in the gardens of a house near Burford but was later re-erected in the gardens of Overbury Court. It is positioned adjacent to the main west approach into the village and is visible from the main south front of Overbury Court.
