Description
The South Lodge of Chateau Impney, including the gatepiers, was built between 1869 and 1875 and designed by the architect Tronquois of Paris. This two-storey lodge is constructed of red brick with wide stone bands and features a slate roof with gable ends, stone verges, and ball finials. It has a central brick chimney stack and narrow two-light sash windows with glazing bars. An open wooden porch is located on the end elevation. Attached to the side of the lodge is a circular turret topped with a steep conical roof, a wind vane, and a dentilled cornice. The gatepiers are made of ashlar and feature panelled piers with cornices and iron finials, while the lower attached flanking piers are made of brick with wide stone bands and carved scrolls below the cap of the main pier.
