Description

Nindfield is a house with origins dating back to the 17th century, which was refronted in the mid-18th century and underwent alterations and extensions in 1913. The building features roughcast brick and a plain tiled roof that is concealed behind tall parapets with ashlar coping and brick ridge end stacks. It has three storeys and three bays, with the outer bays featuring canted bay window additions that extend to the full height of the facade and contain 12-pane sash windows. The central bay is highlighted by a very tall round-headed stair window that illuminates both floors and includes two 12-pane sashes, the upper one having a traceried head. The central entrance is adorned with a moulded flat canopy supported by corbels, featuring roundel relief moulds, and a half-glazed door.

To the rear right, there is the original 17th-century range made of limestone rubble, which is a single storey with an attic and half-dormers. The windows in this section are all 1913 insertions with leaded casements. Additionally, there is an L-shaped addition from 1913 at the rear centre and left, constructed from dressed limestone rubble with hipped plain tiled roofs, two storeys high, also featuring leaded casements. Inside, the central open well staircase has been altered but retains some 18th-century turned balusters in its lower flight.
