Description

This is a detached house, built around 1840 and subsequently divided into two separate dwellings at 29 and 29A Chestnut Walk. The house is constructed of red brick with a clay tile roof. It features end stacks to the front roof slope, with overhanging details and decorative pots. Stone window sills are present, along with stone copings to the eaves, the part-curvilinear gable parapets. A timber porch provides access. The house follows a double-depth plan with a central hallway and staircase. It has two storeys and an attic. The front elevation has three first-floor windows, all containing 6/6 sash windows in plain reveals, set beneath sills and flat gauged-brick arches. The front door is a five-panel design with the upper pair and central panel raised and fielded with bolection mouldings, the lower pair flush with double beading, and topped by a fanlight. Fluted pilasters and columns flank the porch. Return elevations include 3/3, 6/6, and 1/1 sash windows with margin-glazing. Service ranges to the rear have been converted into a separate dwelling.
