The War Memorial Library At Malvern College

The War Memorial Library at Malvern College was built in 1924 and designed by architect Sir Aston Webb. This two-storey building is constructed of ashlar stone and features a slate roof. The side elevations have canted full-height end bays, each with a three-light window above a four-light window. The central section is dominated by three mullion and transom windows, each with 15 lights and arched upper lights, separated by panels with shallow carved arches. The treatment of cills and heads is continuous throughout. The ground floor is simpler on the north side and includes a door to the south.

The entrance front, located in the gable end, features an arched moulded bay with a nine-light window that has a segmental head, along with mullions and transoms. Above the double doors, which have glazing bars, is a carved parapet. A glazed fanlight is present, and a rectangular dripmould above the door terminates at impost height with carved figures of a pelican and a squirrel. Above the door on the parapet, two warriors, one an airman, support the school coat of arms. The parapet is also adorned with carvings of roses and thistles.
