Description
The Memorial Hall, located in Upton-upon-Severn, is a former Town Hall and Market built in 1832. It is designed in the Greek revival style and features painted stucco. The building is two storeys high with a five-window range. The ground floor has a recessed Doric colonnade in antis supported by four cast-iron columns. Originally open, this area was blocked in the 1920s with metal frame windows and includes four bronze memorial plaques. The central entrance door is flanked by pilasters on the first floor, which has a full entablature. The windows are set in moulded architraves with flat cornices and feature glazing bar sashes. The rear wall was rebuilt in the 1920s, and a stone plaque with the date 1832 is set into this wall. Inside, the entrance hall has two Doric half-columns, and there are brick arched cellars and a former jail located beneath the building.
