Description
Moat Court is a building that is part of the fabric said to date from the 14th century but is mainly from the 16th and 17th centuries, with later alterations. It stands two storeys high, constructed of red brick on a foundation of Malvern stone, topped with an asbestos tile roof. The building features a moulded gable at one end with brick coping and an exposed chimney breast with a tall brick stack. The west elevation has a central curved attic gable with a leaded small-paned casement window. The older section of the house has three windows, while the left, hipped end is a later addition. The windows are irregular, with some bricked up, and most are hung sashes with glazing bars and flush frames. There is one leaded casement window with two lights and moulded wood mullions, as well as a canted bay with glazing bars on the ground floor. Inside, there is a well-type 17th-century staircase with flat-section balusters. The property also includes a 19th-century double oast house at the rear, which has square sections and cowls, and is covered with slate roofs. Moat Court is surrounded on all sides by a wet moat.
