Description
The Church of St Mary Magdalen is a Grade I listed building with origins dating back to the 12th century. It features a nave and chancel from this period, along with a 12th-century doorway that has been relocated to the 15th-century west tower. The nave roof, which is from the 15th century, is concealed internally by an 18th-century plaster ceiling, while the chancel ceiling was completed in 1868. The church underwent restoration in 1866 by G. Steane of Coventry, during which decorated style windows were added. Inside, there is a 12th-century round font and a 15th-century painting on the north wall of the nave depicting a post windmill and St Christopher. The east end of the church retains the remains of three windows from the 13th century. A 19th-century spire was added to the tower.
