Description

Woodgate, built around 1900 in a modified Tudor style by W H Bidlake for himself, features stone-dressed red brick and a tiled roof with stone-coped gables. The building has one storey and two storeys of attics, with lattice casement windows set in chamfered flush stone surrounds. The ground floor is finished in ashlar up to the window sill level. Inside, there are many carefully designed features, including panelling, chimneypieces, and window seats. For more details, refer to Architectural Review, 1901, volume 9, pages 223-224, and The Architect, 1900, volume 63, page 128.
