Description
No. 356 on Moseley Road is a two-storey villa built around 1830-1840, featuring three bays and constructed from painted brick. It has a deep stucco plinth with cellar vents and a hipped slate roof with flat eaves. The windows are plain revealed dash style, with flat stucco arches. The ground floor window sills are supported by scrolled consoles that rise from breaks in the plinth, while the first floor has corbelled sills. A flight of steps leads up to the central doorway, which is flanked by plinths that support a well-proportioned Greek Doric fluted column porch. The porch walls feature Soanian pilasters, and there is a frieze adorned with wreaths over the capitals on the sides and front. The porch also has a projecting cornice with a block pediment that contains an ornate rinceaux scroll, along with anthemion and lotus motifs. The doorway has panelled reveals and a modern door with a rectangular fanlight above. To the left, there is an altered two-storey gig house, which has a cornice and a raised blocking course in the centre.
