Description

A terrace of seven houses, now houses and flats, built around 1834-1838 in Royal Leamington Spa. The terrace is constructed of pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco facades, Welsh slate roofs, and stucco ridge stacks, some with cornices. Cast-iron balconies are also present.

The houses are three storeys high with basements, and attic additions to the rear, featuring 14 first-floor windows (two per house), with extensions to the rear. The ground floor is rusticated, with a moulded band above the first floor. The first floor has tall 6/9 sash windows throughout, while the second floor has 6/6 sash windows with sills. A moulded frieze and cornice top the facade.

The entrances, on the right-hand side, consist of a five-step approach (mainly roll-edged) to four-panel doors, with the doors to the far right and left being partly glazed and featuring fanlights with radial glazing within panelled reveals. Tripartite ground-floor windows have 6/6 panes between two 2/2 sashes, and sills. Basement windows are mostly 10/10 sashes with sills, although there is a French window to the left and two 3/6 sashes to the right. All windows are set in plain reveals. Balconies are present on the first floor of each house except number 23, which has a Carron Company balustrade with a double-heart-and-anthemion motif. The right return features a tall 6/9 window with a similar balcony above. The rear elevation has mainly 6/6 sash windows.

The interiors retain original plasterwork and joinery, including shutters on some windows, along with some fireplaces. Milverton Crescent was laid out and the south half constructed between 1834 and 1838.
