Description
Rising Sun House is a house dating from the 16th century, originally located in the Urban District of Solihull. The ground floor is timber-framed with painted brick infill, while the first floor exhibits irregular timber-framing with painted brick and rendered infill. The left side of the first floor has close-studded timber-framing with rendered infill. The roof is covered in plain tiles, and there are 19th-century brick ridge stacks to the left, centre, and right. The house follows an E-plan, with two storeys and a six-window front. A two-panel door is positioned on the right side of the centre, accompanied by a flat-hood supported by brackets. A flat-roofed, angled bay window is located at the end of the central cross-wing. The windows are a mix of casements, arranged irregularly. The roof structure includes a queen-post truss to the central cross-gable and a double queen-post truss to the right cross-gable, with close-studded timber-framing to the left cross-gable. Inside, the left cross-wing's first floor features close-set, massive floor joists. The ground floor has chamfered spine beams and open fireplaces in some rooms.
