Description
Longbridge Manor is a Grade II* listed building dating from 1781, with origins in the 14th to 15th centuries as the former home of the Staunton family. The main part of the south elevation was built in the late 16th or early 17th century and stands two storeys high with five windows. The recessed central bay features an impressive doorcase with a segmental pediment, a dentilled cornice, and large enriched console brackets. The windows are sashes in cased frames, although most of the walls are currently covered with modern colourwashed roughcast. There are modern extensions to the east and west that complement the character of the house. Inside, the manor boasts a good interior with carved fireplaces and decorative plasterwork. The rear wing, dating from the 15th to 16th century, is timber-framed with two bays of closely spaced studding and geometrical framing, while the rest is covered with modern roughcast. The roof is hipped and covered with old tiles, and the staircase dates from around 1625. Longbridge Manor, along with its barn and gate pier, forms a group.
